The Sprinter Motorhome, a Look at Class C Mercedes-Benz Sprinter RVs
A Class C Sprinter motorhome is a downsized fuel sipping RV that has everything a big Class A motorhome has, but in a more compact and maneuverable package. Class C Motorhomes based on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter chassis have become increasingly popular, and rightly so, as many achieve 15-20 mpg. Yes, that’s no typo.
The equipped V6 turbo diesel engine is one of the cleanest burning diesels around. It’s matched to a 5 speed automatic transmission. The motorhome has a tight turning radius and at 25 feet in length, it’s able to navigate backcountry roads and congested city streets with ease. Even U-turns are possible.
Impressed? Then lets dig a little deeper into the world of nimble fuel saving motorhomes. And if you can, try not to drool over some of the sexiest designs in the RV industry (bet you’ve never seen “sexiest” and “RV” in the same sentence!)…
I’m going to go over the RV companies that crank out these Sprinter motorhomes, and give you the scoop on unique floorplans and features available with this impressive lineup of compact RVs.
But first I’ll list a few similarities. These are some optional features that are fairly common among Class C Sprinter motorhomes:
- Back-up camera with color monitor. The monitor is cleverly positioned where the rear-view mirror would be. That way you can keep your eyes on the road ahead instead of having to look down at a in-dash monitor.
- In-dash GPS
- Onan propane or diesel generator
- Heated holding tanks
From here the options and designs run the gamut. Follow me for a peek through the windows for a better view.

Leisure Travel Vans
Leisure Travel Vans produces two Class C Sprinter motorhomes. The Serenity and the Unity.
Great features that can be found on both models include:
- Front captain’s chairs that swivel for additional seating in the living area
- Solid wood cabinetry
- LED aisle lighting with LED accent lights
- Opening skylight with screen and privacy shade
- Garbage can recessed in countertop with flush lid
- Optional side turn cameras – gives you rear side views on the dash monitor, eliminating blind spots
- Battery boast – uses power from your house batteries to start the motorhome in the event your chassis battery dies
- Recessed low profile 13,500 BTU ducted air conditioner with heat pump for even heating and cooling (heat pump uses electricity to conserve propane)
Serenity
The Serenity features an eye-catching molded fiberglass curved body. The aerodynamic body reduces wind noise and improves fuel economy. Its low profile makes parking in most garages easy.
Inside, choose between a rear corner bed or a dual purpose power sofa. The power sofa is outfitted in Ultra leather and adds additional living space during the day. When it’s time to hit the hay, the sofa converts into a bed padded with comfortable memory foam.
An “L” shaped sofa dinette located in the mid-section features Ultra leather and converts into a bed for additional sleeping.
Unity
The Unity Sprinter motorhome is Leisure Travel Vans most popular model. It’s available in 3 floorplans…
U24IB (Island Bed)
This non-slide floorplan features a walk-around island bed in the rear. The U24IB has a generous 60 cubic feet of exterior storage space and includes a pass-through exterior storage compartment. The front dinette converts into a bed.
U24CB (Corner Bed)
The U24CB features a rear space-saving corner bed and a booth dinette slideout, both of which provide for a larger living area. The dinette can be swapped for a Flex-O-Bed (sofa that converts into a queen sized bed with air mattress) or a U-lounge. A euro recliner chair across from the dinette makes a comfy spot to kick back.
U24MB (Murphy Bed)
The star of the U24MB Sprinter motorhome is the unique queen-sized murphy bed (wall bed) located in the mid-section slideout. By hiding the bed in the wall you have a living room by day, and a bedroom by night. And since there’s no bed in the rear, this space is devoted to a bathroom with a size that rivals those found on large Class A motorhomes.
The living area has two reclining “theater style” seats with a view out the window on the opposite wall. And when you tire of the view outside, a 26″ LCD TV pop-ups from the counter. The recliners can be swapped for a U-shaped lounge if desired.
Winnebago
Winnebago offers two Class C Sprinter motorhome models, the View and View Profile. Features that stand out on both models include:
- TrueLevel holding tank monitoring system – instead of using probes that can corrode, this system uses sonar technology which provides a more accurate tank reading.
- Front captain’s chairs swivel for additional seating in the living area.
- Optional exterior speakers with remote control extender provide entertainment outside.
View
The View is available in 2 floorplans. Both include a front overhead bunk with ladder and privacy curtain.
24J (Corner Bed)
The 24J View is designed with a rear full-time corner bed. A slideout houses the booth dinette. The booth dinette can be swapped for a sofa dinette that converts into a bed. And instead of a cabover bed, you can opt for a front entertainment center or storage cabinet.
24M (Sofa Sleeper)
The 24M View features a full wall slideout which houses a bench dinette and a Comfort Sofa Sleeper. The sofa sleeper folds out into a bed with an inflatable mattress. By omitting a fulltime bed there is plenty of room in the living area. The rear bathroom is quite spacious too. Other benefits are a larger wardrobe and larger galley area. A front cabover storage cabinet is optional.
View Profile
The View Profile has a sleek low profile exterior and is available in one floorplan, the 24G. This Sprinter motorhome features a rear slide with a walk-around queen bed. The rear bedroom also includes a nice sized wardrobe. Another slideout houses the Comfort Sofa Sleeper with movable table. A 26″ LCD TV mounted on a swiveling stand is situated opposite the sofa sleeper above the galley counter.

The rear gaucho can be swapped for a queen bed if desired. The 24R has a rear slide-out with a fulltime walk around bed in addition to a sofa dinette slide.
Nice touches include:
- 3 burner range with conventional oven – don’t see too many Sprinter motorhomes with a conventional oven (a great feature, especially when boondocking!)

The 24MS boosts a large living area with electric reclining theater seats. At the touch of a button a queen size Serta mattress drops from the wall, transforming the living room into a bedroom.
Nice standard features include:
- 3.6 KW Onan LP generator
- Arctic package
- Three burner range with conventional oven
Choices
There you have it, a great selection of compact fuel sipping Class C Sprinter motorhomes to whet your appetite. Now you’ll just have to decide what your priorities are…
As you’ve seen, each manufacturer has a different approach to cramming the most livability into a limited amount of space. It’s a balancing act when deciding how much storage, living, and sleeping space goes into a small motorhome. More living space usually means less storage space, and vice versa.
You may have to make a few compromises when going small, but with all the benefits, like awesome mpg, superior maneuverability, excellent reliability, and the sexiest looks of any RV out there, a Sprinter motorhome truly has no competition.
